GOLD PAN AND PLATORO

CAN BE YOUR STAGING POINT FOR THE ABUNDANCE OF OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE:

FISHING/BOATING - Hundreds of miles of streams and high mountain lakes for fishing Rainbow, Brook, Brown and Cutthroat Trout.  The Conejos River offers trophy fly fishing waters, beginning right at the concrete bridge in the town of Platoro.  Nearby Mix Lake and Platoro Reservoir are stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout as well as Kokanee Salmon. 

HUNTING -
A wide variety of excellent hunting opportunities exist in the Platoro area.  Thousands of acres of public land are available to hunt elk, mule deer, bear, small game, grouse and more.  See the Colorado Division of Wildlife for further information on hunting in Section 81.

BIKING/HIKING/BACKPACKING - Dozens of trails to hike!  Trails vary from an easy, day-hike, to more difficult overnight adventures into remote regions.  Numerous NFS trails to streams, lakes and the Continental Divide Trail. 
We welcome ALL "DIVIDE" hikers and bikers, as well as "GeoCache" folks at Gold Pan!

4x4 & OHV TRAILS -
Plenty of mountain roads and trails to view the unparalleled beauty and scenic vistas of the Rio Grande National Forest.

HORSEBACK RIDING -
Bring your horses or check out local outfitters
